TESTIMONIALS
"I've been a client of Marianne's since she started working in Monifieth (can it really be 15 years ago?!). I love going to Inner Balance in Carnoustie; I'm there at least every month, usually for facials or waxing but every now and then I have a different treatment - nails, massage, eyes; you name it, I've had it! There's always a professional but friendly welcome that makes you feel so comfortable. In fact when I go on holiday and have a treatment I'm always comparing them to Marianne (and 99% of the time it's Marianne/Inner Balance who comes out on top!).

With all the anxietys and pressure of everyday life, it is nice to come to Inner Balance for any treatment. Mine in particular is an eyebrow wax an tint. As soon as you walk in the door you feel the warmth of the welcome. The treatment itself is very relaxing. The background music allows you to forget your mundane things in your life. Marianne is a very competent beauty therapist.

Service at the salon is both professional and friendly. Marianne is contatanly striving to improve on what is already an excellent range of treatments.

I have been going to Marianne for several years and every time I go I am impressed with the professionalism and enthusiasm that Marianne has for her art.
Her facials and massages are probably my favourite treatments, although now and again I try something different. I really enjoyed the reflexology and felt great afterwards.
Yesterday I had a Sen Facial – it is just fabulous – if you don’t know what to have, you must have one of these! The Sen products smell gorgeous and feel so lovely, I came away feeling wonderful.
I love the way Marianne guides you through your treatment, answers your questions and offers advice only if you ask for it.
Do you know what impresses me most about Inner Balance? Marianne’s knowledge about the products she uses, the research she undertakes before using new resources and her skill at making you feel so relaxed that your treatment is probably the best “me” time you could have during daylight hours!

I have enjoyed all the treatments that I have. The one that stands out is the himalayan singing bowls.

I have regularly both reflexology and the himalayan singing bowls. Both treatments help me to relax. I think I actually fall asleep for 2.-3 minutes continually. I look forward to my treatments and am always made to feel welcome. Iam considering trying a different treatment if I can drag myself away from the reflexology.

I just love going to Inner Balance. I have been going there for about 5 years. I have had several different treatments but my favourite is the face massage - I would have one every week if I could afford it! Marianne is very good at her job and in no time at all you are lying there completely relaxed and just wishing that the treatment wouldn't stop. I can highly recommend a trip to Inner Balance and then like me, you will be hooked.

I discovered Marianne when she was working in Monifieth...10 years ago. She has all of the qualities that a fantastic therapist needs...and more! All the treatments that I have had have been awesome. The bamboo massage was just what I needed at the beginning of my summer holiday. Be adventurous and try something other than what you normally have. You will be very pleasantly surprised.

I've been a loyal client since Inner Balance's inception and can thoroughly recommend Marianne's professionalism. With all those years of training behind her, her clients know that what she recommends for their particular needs will be absolutely spot on. She may be pint-sized but she's packed full of knowledge and a whole load of energy.

BEGINNINGS TO WHERE WE ARE NOW |
DUNDEE COLLEGE, 1992
So the journey began and I enrolled onto the full time City and Guilds of London course in beauty therapy and electrical epilation (electrolysis) which then was 5 days a week 9-4 for 2 years. Seven final written and pratical exams were covered: beauty treatments written and practical, body treatments written and practical, science covering biology and anatomy, physics and chemistry, electrical epilation practical and written and if you failed one element you never received your certificate. I was proud to achieve distinctions so the hard work paid off.

HAIR & BODY SHOP, ARBROATH 1994
First job out of college and setting up the beauty section of a brand new hair and beauty salon. Feeling confident and getting advice from fellow therapists had fun finding my feet in my first year of work but still craved knowledge and something more which led onto my next career move.
|
JENNERS - EDINBURGH 1995
This was the making of me working in the prestige salons on the 5th floor. Working with a large number of therapists and having first experience of working with a head therapist and salon manager. After proving myself after 3 months I was then able to wear the salon uniform and go for further training to places like London and Ascot to name but a few places. After a year and a half it was time to come home but my thirst for knowledge and continued self development had started.
|
SHAPERS STUDIO,BROUGHTY FERRY 1996
On my return from Edinburgh excited to bring to this Studio my knowledge of working in the city and was running the beauty section of this hidden gem that included hair and fitness studio.
|
STRAWBERRY FAYRE, MONIFIETH 1997
Revamping this tired beauty section of hair salon and being given free reign to build up the beauty section. I was working here part time while I was running my first part time business called THERAPEUTICS a mobile on-site massage business where I would take my chair around offices and businesses and spend time lunch time and afternoons with the staff to help them chill out a bit with this new and exciting acupressure massage that was carried out through the clothes.
|
CARNOUSTIE GOLF SPA, 1999
After an amazing opportunity and my biggest challenge was setting up the golf course spa in the brand new hotel, and getting organised with staff for the first golf open coming to Carnoustie. Another opportunity arose to set up the treatment rooms in the new Next Generation health club with a well known hairdressing company from Edinburgh sadly the deal fell through when the Edinburgh company decided to not move here leaving me jobless. But I then realised why was I setting up these businesses for other people and then the penny clicked I needed to work for myself after gaining years of valuable experience.

INNER BALANCE, Monifieth was created 2000
Having had a great experience working at Strawberry Fayre with Mirium and the late Geoff Alexander who owned the business and the staff, I approached them as I had heard the beauty area wasnt working so well and if they would be interested in myself renting and taking on the beauty rooms, such fun and exciting times. After 4 years and a change of owners it was apparent that I needed to have my own shop and high street premises so it was time to say goodbye Monifieth and hello to Carnoustie.

INNER BALANCE, CARNOUSTIE 2004
Having a wide clientelle base from Dundee, Forfar, Kirrimuir and surrounding areas and with living in Arbroath I finally found the shop I am in at present although very small and an ex take away food shop the deal was done and 6 weeks of hard work and gutting out the shop from top to bottom, one shop area was turned into two treatment rooms, a spray tan room and reception/gift area. Also taking on staff was another new experience and so here we are up to the present day...
I have been really lucky in my career and have had good and learning curve experiences which I feel has moulded me and how the business is now. Passionate about the industry and keeping standards and training high. We hope that we can convey this to you as the customer and look forward to seeing you at Inner Balance.
